About Roadliner

Roadliner Passenger Transport was created by it’s founder Mr Mark Self in September 2001.

Armed with a modest business plan and eight years of experience within the Coach Industry, Mark borrowed £18,000 from his local High Street bank and set about obtaining an Operator’s Licence from the Traffic Commissioners. A licence for two vehicles was granted for the Sole Trader business and he was then tasked with procuring a suitable vehicle to launch the business.

Mark’s experience with Leyland vehicles was limited to only the love of driving them for his then current employer.  To this end, it made sense to purchase a Leyland Tiger with the striking Berkhof Everest bodywork.  A 1986 ex Green Line 53 seat example was found and purchased for the sum of £12,500.  However, Mark was insistent that the vehicle had to be brought up to a high standard on three counts prior to it entering service; these standards were 1 a fresh new livery, 2 a vibrant new interior and 3 that the vehicle was brought up to an exceptionally high standard mechanically.

This did not leave a lot of change out of the £18,000 borrowed, however, the remaining cash that was left over was used as working capital within the business.

The three standards mentioned above have, without question, remained a cornerstone of the business ethos.

From a lowly £18,000 start back in 2001, the now incorporated company boasts a fleet valued at £1.8 million, a £2m turnover and a purpose-built depot in the centre of Poole, Dorset.

Providing good service, high standards and well trained staff has come as standard to us.
